i miss o-week
well i dont really have much to update, except for a pretty nice little sunday. everybody stumbled out to the pool, hungover and miserable, had a few beers and a few laughs, a little pool volleyball (our housing complex is turning more and more into club med). for some reason we then decided to go out at like 4 in the afternoon. weve heard that this bar “fisho’s” (fisherman’s wharf) is really great on a sunday so we thought we’d check it out. this bar is like the perfect bar, right on the water, you can see the sunset, its this huge long circular patio, live bands on either end. i guess the tradition is to finish off your weekend there, you start nice and early sunday afternoon so you can enjoy the sun and then get to bed at a good time so you’re fine for monday. it worked for me, i got wrecked, had some delicious street meat, and was in bed by 10. perfect way to end the weekend, i’ll take some pics next time we’re there.
other than that, ive just been writing essays on pop culture and chinatown and postmodern crap and blade runner… aaaand gettin excited for spring break. here’s the site for our cataraman. its huge! and has a hot tub! check out the photo gallery

cant wait. hopefully it will make up for how jealous i am of everybody back home doing o-week. i’ll make my own o-week and limit myself to just a couple hours of sleep a night. and not drink. riiiiight.
ps - i know its not very “hip” to like michael moore, he’s “soo last week”, but dammit if i dont respect the man right now. first off he wrote a serious of really good articles from the republican national convention:
Why Democrats shouldn’t be scared, 9/3/04
Don’t send more kids to die, 9/2/04
The Ebert and McCain show, 9/1/04
The GOP doesn’t reflect America, 8/31/04
AND there was a poll done that while 80% of people who see the movie are already kerry voters, 100% of people who come out of the movie are kerry voters. that seems a little drastic, but this movie IS having an effect on the election.
AND he’s not submitting farenheit 9/11 for an oscar for best documentary so that he can release it on video/dvd before the election so more people can see it. say whatever you want about him having his own bias (of course he does, so does fox news) or his methods (about time we had some in your face journalism, well journalism isnt the right word…) but this is a pretty good example of how he isnt in it for the money, because an oscar win (he was pretty much guaranteed to win, no documentary has EVER had such an impact or such an audience) would of meant way more money for him. it was funny how the big media spinned this into “oh he’s just trying to win best picture,” when he just mentions that as a joke, since documentaries dont get nominated for best picture. aaanywho, way to go michael moore, perfect example of using the media hype machine against itself.
Never esteem anything as of advantage to you that will make you break your word or lose your self-respect.

At the center of your being you have the answer; You know who you are and you know what you want.

To believe your own thought, to believe that what is true for you in your private heart is true for all…that is genius.
