the problem with blogs…

Filed under: General — andrew @ 10:55 pm

… is that they’re completely self-invloved, but what happens when your ’self’ hasnt done shit lately? i got no personal problems to whinge about (whinge is a much better word than whine, i’ll give the aussies that, though their ketchup blows ass. in a big way) and i got no adventures to try to make you envious about. hence the lack of blogertainment from this guy.

i do feel i should inform you, however, that i am a huge wuss now when it comes to the weather. i havent felt the sting of a cold canadian winter in more than a year, and have come quite accustom to the warm weather. so now that its autumn here, and the temperature has plummeted to a barely livable 15 degrees, im all decked out in pants and hoodies and socks and blankets. and if you think thats bad, my sister is on a misson to buy a heater now. at 15 degrees.

so my sister is fat as (i also like the aussie way of adding ‘as’ or ‘but’ to an end of a sentence, such a fierce disregard for grammar is something to be respected. it’s sweet as. confusing at first but) and she is due on monday. her and tim have been all keen as mustard (man i am full of the aussie linguistic knowledge tonite) on reading up on pregnancy and giving birth and all that, apparently its a big step. so there’s a pamphlet on the table right now that is called “how to know when you are giving birth”. to my surprise, the answer is actually quite in depth and not simply “a human being comes out of your vagina.” who knew?

some reading perhaps?

No Longer the “Lone” Superpower - Chalmers Johnson
we’re all preoccupied with the middle east, but the far east is where the shit is really going down. this is a great article which connects a lot of dots between the US and china, including re-arming japan, china as a rising economic power and eventual superpower, taiwan and korea’s role, and the impending american financial crisis. like bathing off the southern coast of st. bart’s with spider monkeys for two weeks trippin’ on acid, it changed my whole perspective on shit.

Who Will Free Fiona Apple - Mark Morford
a good write up on the fiona apple fiasco. apparently sony wont release fiona’s latest album, which has been finished for like 2 years, cause its not ‘commercially-viable’, even though it is fantastic. a sad example of our corporate driven world, but a triumphant day for the mp3 community and people who care about good music, cause we still get to hear it. so suck on it corporate fat cats.

The Washington Establishment Fails Logic 101 - Arianna Huffington
responding to how even jon stewart and bill maher seem to be supportive of this whole ‘democracy is on the rise in the middle east’ garbage: “So: We invaded Iraq. Change is afoot in the Middle East. Therefore, the Middle East is changing because we invaded Iraq. Q.E.D. G.W.B.” i just like it cause i took intro to philosophy so i get the q.e.d. thing, haha. and a similar article from the guardian, “The claim that democracy is on the march in the Middle East is a fraud. It is not democracy, but the US military, that is on the march”

and on that note, android is out.

(good ol corey from jumbo video used to call me that, sadly no one has taken up that nickname and i am stuck with crap like chip and muffy…)
