i love sampling, and entroducing and paul’s boutique and since i left you and night ripper and the grey album prove its value. and copyright in general is pretty lame. i mean how great would it be if wikipedia included every book in full text? i think the contribution to the public sphere would outweigh the economic loss. free market’ers would say no copyright would decrease innovation, so how about 10 year maximum to copyright? make your money fast, then it belongs to the public.

but then again, if we didn’t have copyright and any jackass could sample, the levy’s would break and we might be flooded with crap like this video from will.i.am (the creative genius behind my humps). this is worse than katrina.

i love how will.i.am is all “i’m just gonna sample this song and spend a lot of money on an awful music video” without even asking permission, and then when he does, daft punk says “ummm no“. not one to steal subtly, will.i.am steals their music video visuals too.
